The November issue of Powder magazine has a great Jordan Manley photo. The photo is of Chad Sayers at Stellar Heli Skiing in late march of last season. Sherpas Cinema was shooting for "All I Can" their new movie. La Nina was bringing us epic powder days, the cover shot shows the deep light dry powder skiing we all enjoyed.

HI Stellar Heli Skiing fans.
Happy New year. We are excited to get into the new season and start riding the new 2011 powder. We've been out looking around the mtns for the last three weeks. The snow pack is sitting around average at 150-175cm. The Riding has been outstanding. This last week we got a big storm and 30cm of fresh powder. Since then it's been Blue skies and faceshots. The first skiers will be arriving in a few days and they will be enjoying stellar heli skiing terrain that is big and untouched. We are now beginning a new set of packages that include the accommodations and the meals. No extras, just book and enjoy. Fall Is In The AIr

Well fall is in the air. temps are dropping and the days are getting shorter, no more mtn biking till nine pm, at least without a head lamp. The mountains are seeing their first dusting, telling me that skiing and the epic days of winter are coming back to us. Looking at new skis checking in on what's new at the local ski hill, and daydreaming of the powder so deep it flows over your shoulders. Here at Stellar we are gearing up to glade out some amazing tree shots only 3min from kaslo staging area. The lines are just I've been dreaming about, steep, long and full of fun.

Well it's March now and we are getting into spring. We have had some really nice skiing during March. The Snowpack and stability have been challenging. The tree skiing is still great, with epic old growth runs to the bottom of the valley. We are open for another month and will finish up in late April. So give us call and get your spring heli trip in.

Fall is in the air and we are hard at work trying to get the word out. We are currently looking for new locations to put brochures and posters. So if any one has a spot. please let us know. As things cool down I've been out looking at new runs in the Southern Selkirks. Setting up new heli landings and treed runs. Got to get ready for the big snowfalls.

Summer time !

Hey Stellar People
We are now getting into the warm days of summer with the snow leaving the higher peaks and plans to get out into the mountains. This summer we will be developing the southern Selkirks tree skiing areas. I have been viewing maps and looking at lines that need to be skied. If you are in the area give me a call and I will show you what it looks like in the summer. Lots of great times to be had. Dec Snow and Weather

Hi Everyone
We now have 100cm in the alpine. The snowpack is a little below average, but we are getting a series of storms starting friday Dec 5. Weather has been cold and clear. We will update again after the storms leave us some deep powder.

Hi Powder skiers and riders
I have come up with a idea. The thought is to start updating you on snow conditions and ski quality? What do you think? I would give a report on snow, temp, snow base, and a quick run down on runs we've skied. I would like to get some feedback from you before getting into the season.
Example: new snow 45cm hightemp -4, low temp -10 snow base 100cm Runs: we skied cascade headquarters five times in epic waist deep powder. In the afternoon we moved over to bowling lanes for some steep treed chutes. Good times.

Fall is in the air. Temps are getting cooler at night the last snowfall on the high mountains is sticking and I'm dreaming of POWDER already. This fall we plan on improving some tree skiing in the Selkirks. Creating some new heli landings and exploring the ridgelines.
I've been trying to develop a new brochure. with amazing photos. If you have any words of wisdom please let us know so we can make the best one ever.

for those of you that know us. (kerry and I) we had our second child. Molly was born on August 28. she is great, sleeping lots and getting bigger and bigger.

Well winter continues with temps down to-12.5 and nothing above 0. We got 20cm over the last few days. Skiing is like mid winter. Faceshots and big carves through the trees. With the long days it's a great time to go for the vert record or explore the back end of the tenure.

We have been out in the Selkirk having a great time. Skiing the Davis Creek drainage. Lots of great lines with more exploring to do. March and there's still great powder to be had. In the pic you see Rick and Jeanne Ewing, Cliff Coury, Keith Barnhart. They had a great time. And ripped it up.

Well there goes Jan! what a great time lots of snow and great new ski lines how can you beat that. We are now using the Masters lake house for accommodations and this place is a sweet place to kick back and enjoy dinner after a long day of riding. We should have photos up soon.

Hi Powder skiers
Well we are now into the heart of jan with temps getting as cold as -20 burrr! The skiing has been so good. Guest Perry and myself and other guise joe have been out exploring Davies creek in the Selkirks. Wow what a compact gold mine of powder runs. We skied eight runs this Sunday and Four of them were first descents. Very cool. We will get some photos up soon.

Wild fires in meadow creek

Hi everyone
We are having a record breaking stretch of hot weather with forest fires all around the area. Bad for the forest but for skiers this could mean new burns to ski. Who doesn't like to ride in a old burn. We have heard that the cascade area is burning. But no real idea of size.
Plans to open a new area called cooperface are in the works. The first recons of the summer look good with all sort of good open trees and some new alpine features. Potential for a big 5000ft run off mt davies looks amazing. Bye for now J

OAKLEY TEAM RIDES WITH STELLAR
The first visit to Stellar 2007 was the Oakley team. In January the storms were strong leaving us with lots of fresh powder. These guys rip Tanner was throwing big spins off everything. They were impressed with the terrain and want to come back.

This is our valley. Pretty nice. We live near the past the north end in a very small place called Meadow creek. The skiing is on both sides of the lake. And each side of the lake(purcells or selkirks) has a distinct feel. Can be very different. Little colder in the Purcells.

We created Stellar Heli Skiing because we love to ski and want to stay in this Kootenay Lake hamlet. This place is so beautiful. Kootenay Lake sits in between the Purcell and Selkirk mountains Clean and relatively untouched. The Mountains are big here, the lake is at 1800ft, and some of the mountains reach near tenthousand feet. This area has great snow, and lots of it. Our area starts at the village of Kaslo and extends past our home of Meadow Creek, BC. Highway 31 runs along the west shore of the lake and is a great access point for heli skiing.
Are idea is that small custom service is the best. We provide great skiing and focused service designing the ski trip the way you would like it. If you want to purchase just the skiing or you want to be pampered with spa and message, we can do it. I will get you more details in posts to come.
